What about Byteball?
Byteball (GBYTE) is a cryptocurrency project that was launched in 2016. Byteball differs from other decentralized cryptocurrencies in that it does not use a traditional blockchain where current data transactions are connected with previous ones. Instead, Byteball relies on a directed acyclic graph (DAG) structure called a "DAGchain" where data is connected in a structure which is like a mesh.
Byteball doesn’t use any blocks or blockchain. Transactions act as a unit (also known as storage units or balls). These balls connect to each other (not necessarily in a straight line).
DAG ensures that each storage ball is linked to each other. In DAG, each ball consists of hashes of the previous storage ball. The system can attach a new storage ball by signing the previous transaction hashes to it.
DAG has non-linear functionality but allows for trouble-free future reference to any ball. It eliminates problems with blockchain's block system and offers benefits like prompt confirmation, reduced energy consumption, and transaction finality.
Byteball is geared toward providing a platform for fast and secure transfer of value, while using a novel system for governance and consensus. Transactions on the Byteball network are confirmed by witnesses, who are a select group of nodes that have been approved by the community. Transactions are processed faster and cheaper than traditional blockchain-based cryptocurrencies because there is no mining required.
Byteball enables its users to create and transact with any kind of asset, such as regular currencies, commodities, and even other cryptocurrencies, without the need for intermediaries like banks or exchanges. Byteball allows for the creation of conditional payments, which means that users can create transactions that depend on certain conditions being met before the funds are released.
Byteball has several unique features, such as its ability to send transactions via chat and its use of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) without requiring smart contracts. Byteball also allows for private, untraceable transactions using its 'Blackbytes' currency.
The GBYTE token is utilized to pay transaction fees on the Byteball network and for voting in certain decentralized governance decisions. Byteball has gained support from a variety of exchanges, wallets, and merchants, and is increasingly being used in real-world applications.
