Headquartered in London, Arweave is a next-generation decentralized storage network launched in July 2017 by Sam Williams and William Jones. Arweave is a decentralized technology that employs a blockchain to permanently and securely store data from around the world. While forming a long-term vision for the Internet as a whole, its goal is to decrease development restrictions. The Arweave blockchain's native coin, AR, is used in a variety of ways throughout the ecosystem. When the Arweave mainnet launched in June 2018, more than 55 million tokens (out of a total supply of 66 million) were created in the genesis block. Arweave nodes will receive the remaining tokens as block rewards.
