CELR is a token that powers the Celer Network. The layer 2 scaling platform Celer Network guarantees widespread adoption of blockchain applications on the Polkadot, Ethereum, and other blockchains. Layer 2 refers to various protocols that are built on top of layer 1 to improve the original blockchain’s functionality. The State Guardian Network, a blockchain that uses a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus variant dubbed Delegated Proof of Stake, acts as the foundation and security for the Celer Network architecture (DPoS). CELR is Celer’s native ERC-20 standard token built upon the Ethereum blockchain. The service fee and transaction fee for off-chain service providers can be paid with the CELR token.
