Enter the wallet address to which your new cryptocurrency will be transferred. Please provide any additional information (e.g., Memo) if needed.
Which coins/tokens might need a Memo.ID?
Although it is not always called “Memo.ID,” this term is usually used to describe unique identifiers some cryptocurrencies require you to indicate to make transactions. Here they are:
Memo | Algorand (ALGO)BNB (BNB)Cosmos (ATOM)EOS (EOS)Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR)Stellar Lumens (XLM)Terra (LUNA)Terra USD (UST)Anchor Protocol (ANC)Bonded Luna (BLUNA) |
Destination tag | XRP (XRP) |
Message | NEM (XEM) |
Step 6. Be redirected to MoonPay
You will be redirected to MoonPay’s website. There, you will need to enter your email address.
You will need to verify your email address. Check your inbox and spam folder, and enter the code in the appropriate field. Tick the “I agree with MoonPay’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy” box and click Continue.
Step 7. Pay for your order
You will be shown all the payment methods you can use to complete your order. In this guide, we will be going with a debit card. Select your chosen payment method to continue.
Basic Details
First, you will need to enter your basic details. Fill out the fields with appropriate information. Enter your first and last name, date of birth, and nationality as they are indicated in your official ID. Click Continue to proceed.
Billing Address
Next, you will need to enter your billing address. There are two ways to do this:
- Start entering your address in the “Search by address” field, and the system will find it automatically.
- Click on “Add address manually” to enter it as normal.
Payment Information
Once you enter your address, it’s time to enter your payment information.
After clicking Continue, you will need to enter your payment details. In this guide, we will be using a bank card. Enter your details, double-check them, and press “Continue” again.
Crypto Wallet Address
Next, you will be asked for your crypto wallet address. Be careful when entering and double-check everything to make sure you’re sending your new tokens or coins to the correct address!
Before you can proceed, you will need to confirm that nobody is trying to steal your money. Please answer this question honestly, and remember to never send funds to people you don’t trust — and don’t let others influence your financial decisions.
Finally, all that’s left to do is to double-check all your details and confirm your order. Tick the box to agree to MoonPay’s Terms of Use and click the Pay button to proceed.
Step 8. Verification
If you’re using MoonPay for the first time, or if you entered an email address you haven’t used on the platform before, you will need to pass verification. You might be automatically approved — in that case, you will get a “Verification complete” screen and will be redirected straight to the next step, asking you to enter your wallet address. However, sometimes (especially if it’s your first time using MoonPay), you will be asked to send in additional information.
Mobile Verification
In some cases, you might be asked to confirm your phone number. It is as easy as confirming your email address. First, enter your number, including your country code.
You will receive a text message with a verification code. Enter it to proceed.
Going through KYC/AML on MoonPay
If it’s your first time using MoonPay (or using that particular email address on their platform), you will need to go through KYC. Please note that you will also need to pass the 3D Liveness Check or take a selfie, so you should navigate through verification on a device with a camera.
First, you will need to send MoonPay a photo of one of the following documents:
- International passport (currently not supported for US residents)
- Driver’s license (both sides)
- National ID card (both sides)
Please note that these are the only ID types that can be accepted. Documents have to be:
- In a language that uses the Latin alphabet (alternatively, they can have English translation)
- Valid for at least one more month
- Physically undamaged
- Signed by you
All the photos you send will need to:
- Be in high resolution and in color
- Be unedited
- Be clear and easily readable
- Have all 4 corners of the document visible
Most verifications on MoonPay are processed automatically and may take between a few minutes and an hour. This time might be extended if one of the documents/pictures you’ve submitted doesn’t meet their requirements and has to be checked manually.
You will be notified by email once your verification is complete. If there are any issues or you need to take any additional steps, you will also be informed by email.
Please note that MoonPay may also ask you to verify your address, source of funds, or bank card. If that happens, they will email you instructions. Follow their guidelines to proceed with your transaction.
Once you complete the verification, you will need to pass the 3D Liveness Check. Alternatively, you will be asked to upload a selfie. You will see a pop-up window asking you to give access to your camera — click Agree (or its equivalent on your device) to proceed.
Step 9. Transaction Complete
Once you pay and provide all the required documents and info, all you will have to do is wait. First-time transactions can take anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours to complete, but subsequent ones are typically processed within 20 minutes.
Below, you can see the screen that will be displayed once your transaction is completed. You will also get an email with your receipt, transaction hash, and a link to the page showing your transaction status.
You can also check your transaction status by clicking on three horizontal lines on MoonPay’s website — it opens up the menu. Click on “Trade History” to review your past transactions.
FAQ
My card couldn’t be added.
If your bank has declined crypto transactions in the past, MoonPay might ask you to use a different card — or payment method — instead.
If you don’t have any alternative payment methods, you will need to contact MoonPay’s support team by submitting a request, but be aware that they will likely ask you to use a different payment option or another bank card.
My order has failed. What’s next?
Your order might be unsuccessful for a number of reasons, including indicating the wrong wallet address or destination tag (if it was required), not completing your payment, and more. Send a support ticket to the MoonPay team if that’s the case or if you have any problems with the KYC process.
Contact the Changelly support team by submitting a ticket here if you experience any more issues, are confused about how to set up your purchase, or have been waiting for a reply from MoonPay for too long and need an update on your MoonPay ticket.
If your order has failed and you have received a message saying, “Your transaction has been declined by your bank,” please contact your bank. Please note that if your card has had past instances of declined crypto transactions, then it is likely to happen again, and you might have to open a new account in a bank that supports crypto operations.
I cannot pass verification. What should I do?
Make sure that you have followed all of the provider’s instructions and, if required, retake any images. Furthermore, confirm that your name and contact details were input accurately. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the MoonPay support team if you require any more help.
You can also check your email inbox and spam folder — MoonPay may have sent you an email asking for additional information.
My new crypto hasn’t appeared in my wallet. What’s next?
First, check if MoonPay has confirmed that the transaction has gone through — if they sent you an email with the transaction hash, it means they did send out your funds.
Re-check the wallet address you entered during the transaction — if it’s wrong and you accidentally made a typo, please contact the MoonPay support team. However, if the wallet address you entered was correct, it means the issue is on the side of your crypto wallet provider.
You can try updating your wallet, re-syncing it with the blockchain, or contacting your wallet’s support team. As long as you have your transaction hash, they will be able to find your payment in their system easily.
